Issuing Subpoenas

Once you’ve filed a case, have been sued, or been charged with a crime, you have the right to subpoena witnesses for a trial hearing, or deposition, and to use the power of the court to require them to attend and offer testimony for you. There is a different procedure for civil and criminal cases.

Civil cases

If you’re suing someone or have been sued and would like the Clerk’s office to prepare and issue your subpoena to have a witness appear on your behalf, contact the Clerk’s office.  Fees apply.

Criminal cases

If you’re charged with a crime and would like the Clerk’s office to prepare and issue your subpoena to have a witness appear on your behalf, contact the Clerk’s office.  Fees apply.

You may also be responsible for other costs associated with the subpoena.
